Rem Sales, LLC Announces Fixed Headstock "Chucker" Configuration for SS Series

(Windsor, CT) Tuesday, July 28th, 2009 -- Precision Tsugami Corporation introduced a new fixed headstock "chucker" configuration of the popular SS32 Super Swiss Turn at its recent technical fair in Nagaoka City, Japan.   Available in North America through Rem Sales, LLC, www.remsales.com, the  SS32L is capable of producing complex parts complete from ground or cold rolled bar stock.

"A fixed headstock configuration offers distinct advantages for certain applications," explains product manager, Ron Gainer.  "It can be an ideal solution for shorter parts and does not require the use of ground bar stock."  A typical swiss machine will produce a bar remnant equal to the headstock stroke of the machine.  In a "chucker" configuration, the headstock is pushed forward into the tool zone, substantially reducing the remnant.  "Manufacturers will be able to produce more parts from each bar, reducing expensive waste and increasing productivity."

Complex parts can be produced complete from bar stock on the SS32L.  Live face and cross tools for main and sub spindle efficiently handle complex geometries on both sides of the part, resulting in more balanced machining.  An optional adjustable angle- driven face attachment can be used for angled drilling, milling and thread whirling.  With 320mm (12.6") of headstock stroke, the SS32L can easily machine long parts.

Like its predecessors, the SS20 and SS32, the SS32L also offers users a unique modular tool zone, increased capability over previous gang type models, and a roomier tool zone for easier setup.  Tool modularity is a leading edge strategy with new Swiss technology. As shorter runs pervade, machine operators need to change part runs quickly. Sometimes the parts are vastly different from each other, requiring completely different tool setups. The SS-32L’s standard main spindle configuration includes seven turning tools, five cross rotary tools, and five ID tools, while the standard sub spindle setup includes four ID stations, two face drills and two cross rotary tools.  Quick changes to the configuration of main and sub spindle cross rotary, ID, and turning tools can be made, allowing for efficient machining of a greater variety of parts.

In addition to these attributes, the SS32L comes with CAD/CAM software, which makes it easy to set up and operate.  For more information on Tsugami's new SS32L, please visit www.tsugamiusa.com.
